It is not difficult to distinguish between dry-type transformers and oil-immersed transformers

Dry-type transformers and oil-immersed transformers are two types of transformers that are often heard every day. Although both are transformers, they are both very important equipment in the power system, but the two are very different, so they are also easy to distinguish . Dry-type transformer manufacturers come to tell you what are the differences between dry-type transformers and oil-immersed transformers.

The difference between dry-type transformer and oil-immersed transformer:

1. Appearance.

The packaging forms are different. If it is a dry-type transformer, we can directly see the iron core and coil, if it is an oil-immersed transformer, we can only see the outer shell of the transformer.

2. Different lead forms.

Dry-type transformers mostly use silicone rubber bushings, while oil-immersed transformers mostly use porcelain bushings.

3. The capacity and voltage are different.

Dry-type transformers are generally suitable for power distribution. Most of the capacity is below 2000kVA, the voltage is below 10kV, and some have a voltage level of 35kV; while oil-immersed transformers can achieve the required full capacity and voltage levels. All voltages are reached; the UHV 1000kV line under construction in our country must use oil-immersed transformers.

4. Different forms of insulation and heat dissipation.

Dry-type transformers use resin insulation, which is cooled by natural air, and the large capacity is cooled by fans; while oil-immersed transformers rely on insulating oil for insulation, which relies on the circulation of insulating oil inside the transformer to transfer the heat generated by the coil to the radiator of the transformer for heat dissipation .

5. The applicable places are different.

Dry-type transformers are mostly used in places that require "fire and explosion-proof". Generally, large buildings and high-rise buildings are more commonly used. If oil-immersed transformers encounter faults and suffer damage, oil will often be sprayed or leaked. It is likely to cause a fire. Therefore, oil-immersed transformers are mostly suitable for outdoor applications and occasions where an "accident oil pool" is dug.

The above is the difference between dry-type transformers and oil-immersed transformers, and also a good way to distinguish dry-type transformers and oil-immersed transformers.
